Writing Challenge for November--Submit to the Anthologyby Marsha WardGuess what? We still don't have a piece of work from every member for the ANWA Anthology! That means we challenge you to write--or polish--up that piece and send it in before the end of the year for the greatest yearbook ever! Our newest members are asking what we're talking about. Here's the scoop: ANWA is publishing a yearbook in 2002, tentatively titled ANWA Anthology, to be published as a print-on-demand book by an on-line electronic publisher. We are seeking your very best manuscript submissions for this book. Essays or short stories may be up to 2500 words. Poems (one or more in combination) will have a limit of 40 lines per author. This is what we need from you:
The submission fees will pay for the set-up costs with the publisher. Once we receive your work, it will be edited by one of our editorially-experienced members, who will perform any line-edits that may be necessary to catch the typos and gaffes we all make in our "perfect" copies. Then it will be on to the publisher, who will work with us on a custom four-color cover designed by a professional book designer. Our anthology will be listed in Books in Print, and in the databases of major book wholesalers. The publisher will set the list price, but we're shooting for a cost for each copy of between $8.99 and $11.99, which is determined by the number of pages the book contains. You will be able to purchase as many copies as you like for yourself, relatives, and friends, but they will be able to order the Anthology themselves, from any brink and mortar bookstore or at online outlets. Of course, the ordering details will be available later. Send your disk, hard copy, and submission fee to ANWA Anthology, P. O. Box 8518, Mesa AZ 85214-8518 by the end of the year. We're working on a Summer, 2002 release date.
