Presidency Message Neglect Not the Gift...by Margaret Turley, ANWA SecretaryOur source of creativity and inspiration is God's gift to us. Our gift back to God is what we creats using the inspiration we receive. By developing the gifts and talents we are given we are moving closer toward God. I compare this to the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:15-30. Some of us are given more talents than others, but we are all expected to use and develop the talents we are given and bring forth fruits that are worthy of His praise. If we hide our talent and bury it for fear that we may lose it, then the Lord will take away our talent and give t to another who has been willing to use and develop the talents they were given. 1st Timothy 4:14-15 says, "Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee...Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that they profiting may appear to all." The part I skipped over referred to priesthood. But in the footnotes it references talents. My mind takes this to mean that our Father in heaven wants us to ponder on the gifts we receive, and use them for the profit of his other children here on earth. For us as writers I interpret this to mean that we would have uplifting words published in whatever form we choose to write. We don't have to be preparing a church lesson to feel worthy to ask for divine assistance in our work. Since we are daughters of God, we have the right and privilege to ask for help in whatever endeavor we pursue. As we do receive that inspiration we seek, our work will flow smoothly, questions will be answered and confusion will dissipate. It is important at that time to remember the source [from] whence the answers came, and give thanks. I hope you will find success in whatever writing journey you are pursuing. |
