What Do You Know?
by Carrie Marsh
Have you ever noticed how huge the how-to market is? Just go to the library or bookstore, and take a look around. Most of the non-fiction market is how-to-do...whatever. There are books on gardening, the internet, cooking, diet, starting a business, crafts. You name it, there's probably a book about it.
Now, what does that have to do with us? Easy. The how-to market is a great place to make a name for yourself. We've all heard "Write what you know," right? Well, what do you know? If you have expertise in any area, you could write a book or article about it. Seems simple enough, on the surface. There are a few dos and don'ts for writing how-to. In this issue of the newsletter, I'll try to present the things I've read in a condensed form.
It's a new year, time to do new things. So, if you haven't tried writing a how-to book or article, I encourage you to give it a try. Isn't there something you know that could benefit others? You know there is. Give it a whirl!
