Alexis Champneys Beckstead has taught ballroom dancing for thirty-five years. During college she was a member of the Brigham Young University Ballroom Dance Company and performed in the British Dance Championships, and toured Europe and California with that group. She graduated with a B.A. in Communications and started the Preston High School Ballroom Dance Team, which she has been directing for sixteen years. As she choreographed and taught over 120 dances, she witnessed lives change. She was raised in Pacifica, California, and has six children who learned to dance. Alexis was a member of the school board in Preston for three years. Her hobbies include painting, making scented soaps and lotions, and family history research. She is an avid rock hound with a huge collection of rocks, minerals, and fossils and shares it with elementary school children each year giving a presentation on geology. She is actively involved in her church and teaches Gospel Doctrine in Sunday School.
